Best-of-breed approach

With SAP S/4HANA for Group Reporting, SAP relies on the combination of the SEM-BCS, EC-CS, SAP BPC and SAP Financial Consolidation solutions.
The software is available both on-premise and cloud-based and combines consolidation, analysis and reporting options in one tool.
In SAP S/4HANA, you will find the following principles of the established software systems:

Benefit from the deep integration within the S/4HANA system

The new S/4HANA Group Reporting solution enables deep technical integration between the operational accounting systems of the individual companies and the central consolidation system.
The Universal Journal – the table of individual documents in financial accounting (ACDOCA) – is in constant exchange with the consolidation data (table ACDOCU) via the new consolidation preparation ledger.
This integration makes it easy to transfer data from SAP Finance to Group Reporting.
Comprehensive logging determines which financial accounting documents have already been processed in consolidation.
You can therefore track the original document directly from the consolidation results or, in a new consolidation run, only process the new documents from the reporting period that have not yet been taken into account.

How integration with S4HANA works

Even if you do not have all your accounting companies in S/4HANA, by using Central Finance and the continuous replication of documents from various ERP systems (SAP or other), you can ensure that the integration between consolidation and the Universal Journal also takes place for these systems.
You also still have the option of entering data from external systems in the familiar way, i.e. by importing files from a programmed interface or by using the Data Collection application.

Data Collection App

Even if you do not have all your accounting companies in S/4HANA, by using Central Finance and the continuous replication of documents from different ERP systems (SAP or others), you can ensure that the integration between consolidation and the Universal Journal also takes place for these systems.
You also still have the option of entering data from external systems in the familiar way, i.e. by importing files from a programmed interface or by using the Data Collection app.

ICMR

In addition to the Data Collection App, Group Reporting offers numerous other integrated extensions.
For example, Intercompany Matching & Reconciliation (ICMR) plays a crucial role as an extension of Group Reporting by facilitating the reconciliation and harmonization of differences between different business units.
By identifying and resolving discrepancies between Group companies, ICMR helps to identify and resolve differences at an early stage.
Differences can already be reconciled and resolved in Finance (ACDOCA).
The ICMR can be designed to be fully automated and can be expanded to include automatic debt consolidation or expense and income elimination.

Analyze the documents down to the last detail

By linking the two tables for consolidation and line items, you can also access data that is not usually available in the consolidation systems.
You want to know details about the operating account or the cost centers?
No problem.
Simply drag and drop these fields into the report.
This is made possible by accessing the data of the individual document.
The data displayed can be traced back to its origin and analyzed.
This is made possible by the drill-down function to the original document.
The new function of the consolidation preparation ledger means that consolidation dimensions are already posted in the FI document.

Transfer the validation of data to the operational system

You can carry out checks, such as the existence of a partner in a posting for internal group transactions, directly in the operational system (in S/4HANA) at any time.

Automatic substitution during data transfer

Some companies have the difficulty that certain information or key figures are not directly available or are not available in the desired form.
In such cases, Group Reporting can use substitution rules to enrich or replace missing data so that comprehensive consolidation is possible.
This reduces and automates the manual adjustment effort.

Control the system characteristics

As in SAP BPC, the system is controlled, for example, when executing elimination rules via the characteristics that you store in the master data.
Use the preconfigured consolidation chart of accounts as a template and gain maximum flexibility.
You do not have to reprogram any rules or transport any customizing.
Thanks to master data-driven customizing, enhancements or adjustments to the elimination rules only need to be changed in the consolidation chart of accounts.
As a specialist user, you are therefore closer to the process, can implement adjustments independently and are directly involved in the system configuration.

Transparency in capital consolidation

Would you like a detailed analysis of capital consolidation?
Use the transaction-based capital consolidation, as already familiar to users of SEM-BCS (EC-CS).
Benefit from comprehensive logging of the postings made and use special evaluations of changes in investments, capital or goodwill.
Group Reporting offers rule-based capital consolidation for complete automation.
The rules can be used to carry out capital consolidation up to full automation.

Benefit from a wide range of reporting options

With S/4HANA, you have several options for reporting.
On the one hand, you can use S/4HANA Embedded Analytics, but you can also use SAP Analytics Cloud or the Excel-based Analysis for Office.
A combination of all of these is also possible.

Embedded Analytics is available to you as standard without any further requirements and allows you to drill down to document level.
Embedded Analytics can be used to implement and display various management requirements.
It is possible to call up reports on e.g. cash flow statement or statement of changes in equity at the touch of a button.
For dashboard reports, you can use SAP Analytics Cloud as a standalone product.
Analysis for Office is a familiar tool for data analysis in the familiar Excel environment.
All extensions can be used on-premise and in the cloud.

Reduce administrative work by using the cloud

The S/4HANA Group Reporting solution is offered both on-premise and for the cloud.
Benefit from the fact that you can always use the latest release status tested by SAP.
Of course, this also means that you receive new functionalities at an early stage.
In contrast to the on-premise model, this can take place several months in advance, as the major function updates of the on-premise version are provided on an annual basis.
In contrast to on-premise, registration in the cloud is location-independent.
This means you can log in at any time via the link in your Group Reporting Cloud.
In addition, all functionalities are integrated into Fiori in the cloud, so there is no longer a technical backend.

Benefit from the product strategy

SAP S/4HANA for Group Reporting is the solution recommended by SAP if you are using S/4HANA yourself.
SAP uses its roadmap to show the latest planned functionalities and updates.
This ensures investment security and predictability over a long period of time.
